Madoniebergens toppar är täckta av vinstockar, täta skogar och undangömda byar och är ett bra exempel på siciliansk landsbygd. På denna utflykt får du tillfälle att utforska den medeltida byn San Mauro Castelverde innan vi avnjuter en typisk siciliansk middag.

San Mauro ligger på över 1000 meters höjd ovanför havsnivån så du kommer att få fantastiska vyer över dalgångarna nedanför. Du får cirka en timme på dig att beundra den gamla arkitekturen och titta in i de lokala butikerna innan vi beger oss ut från staden till restaurangen Trattoria La Posada. Här kommer du att få provsmaka lokala specialiteter på en matlagningskurs med Mrs Rosa.

Mrs Rosa kommer att demonstrera tre förrätter med färska säsongsbetonade ingredienser och du får smaka på de färdiga rätterna tillsammans med annan italiensk husmanskost som pasta och kött när du sätter dig till bords. När du ätit dig mätt på det lokala kökets rätter blir det traditionella danser för den som vill.

Mount Etna Tour to 2900m from Taormina

Europe's highest volcano looms large over Sicily, so this family-friendly tour takes you as close to the top as you can. You'll be driven to Rifugio Sapienza, then swap to a cable car and 4x4 vehicle to reach the main crater at about 2,900m above sea level. Full-day Valley of the Temples and Scala dei Turchi tour

Two of Sicily's highlights are in the spotlight on this full-day tour. You'll visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valley of the Temples, an archaeological site that's loaded with what's left of seven 2,500-year-old shrines, including the Temple of Concordia – it's ranked as one of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world. Afterwards, you'll head to one of the top ten most unique coastlines as named by TripAdvisor – Scala dei Turchi. Giuseppa, one of our expert local guides, says “the Valley of the Temples is landscaped with lots of flowering almond trees, another staple of Sicily, that will really add something extra to the photos you take here.”First up is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world, the immense Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. It packs in the remains of seven temples perched on a high ridge, all of which you'll see, including the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and Concordia Temple at the end of the Sacred Way. The temples here are over 2,500 years old, so there are a lot of pages in the history books to uncover. You'll be given headphones to hear your guide, too, so you won't miss any details.Afterwards, you'll make your way to the bright white Scala dei Turchi, a natural limestone staircase that is dug into the cliffs and weaves its way down to the sea. You'll have some time to unwind and go for a swim before heading back to the hotel.

Transfer to Etnaland waterpark in Sicily

You'll be flying down the water flumes and splashing in the pool in no time with this slick transfer to Etnaland's waterpark, just south of the volcano's national park. The bus will pick you up between 8.00am and 8.50am, delivering you to the park for 10.30am, where you'll need to pay for your entrance separately.
