Etna är ett sicilianskt vulkaniskt komplex som har sitt ursprung i kvartären. den är den största vulkanen i Europa och den är bland världens mest aktiva. Den imponerande sicilianska vulkanen har med tiden blivit en viktig attraktion för turister som anländer varje år till ön, eftersom den är en av få aktiva vulkaner i världen som är lättillgängliga för någon.
Beläget på den östra kusten av Sicilien, inom provinsen Catanias territorium, presenterar den en yta som kännetecknas av en mängd olika miljöer: stadslandskap, täta skogar och ödsliga områden täckta av magmatisk sten och med jämna mellanrum utsatt för snö i högre höjder.
Det finns faktiskt specialiserade guider och terrängfordon som säkert leder besökarna till toppkratrarna. Under hela året kan organiserade resor göra det möjligt för resenärer att utforska detta underverk. Denna vulkan är en av Italiens viktigaste naturskatter. Den 21 juni 2013 utsåg UNESCO-kommitténs trettiosjunde session, som sammanträdde i Kambodja, berget Etna till ett världsarv.
