Things to do in Valldemossa Carthusian Monastery
Looking to add a dash of history to your Majorca beach holiday? The Valldemossa Carthusian Monastery , in the village of Valldemossa, is just the ticket. This 14th century monastery started off as a palace the kings of Majorca could call home. In the 1400s, it was then converted into the place of worship we know it as today. During your visit, you can explore almost all the grounds, which include a church, a library and plenty of well-kept gardens – top tip, head to the outer courtyards for the best views of the surrounding countryside. The charterhouse also has its own museum, where you can learn about Majorca’s past and all the different famous historical faces that were here at one time or another.

“Really enjoyed cathedral and would have loved to stay and look round longer”
“We were told that the route was a picturesque drive up the coast rather than from Palma.That didn't happen at all. We were picked up driven to Palma Hippodrome where a number of german tourists swapped coaches. From there we went up the main road. Then on our return (same route straight to Palma) there was very heavy traffic. That's fine, but we took a detour that took 20 minutes to go round 2 roundabouts just to drop the tour guide off first. A bit shoddy. Left to the driver to drop guests off”
