Om du vill ha vykortsliknande vyer och hemlagad mat så är det här utflykten för dig. Vi reser längs kusten från Split upp i bergen och vidare till kuststaden Omis. Sedan åker vi båt uppför Cetina-floden till lunchen som väntar på Radman Mills.

Under resan längs Makarska rivieran kan vi njuta av det vackra dalmatiska landskapet medan vi snirklar oss över bergen till Omis. Där hoppar vi på en båt som tar oss uppför Cetina-floden som går in i bergsklyftor och vidare ut på det glittrande havet.

Vår destination är Radman Mills där lunchen väntar. Restaurangen vid floden ligger i en flera hundra år gammal vattenkvarn. Här får vi ta för oss av lokala delikatesser från Balkan, som kött och potatis som lagats på traditionellt sätt i gjutjärnspanna. Efter lunch är det dags att utforska Omis och dess färgstarka historia. Dagens avrundas med en promenad i staden med kyrkor, borgar och smala gator där de beryktade Omis-piraterna en gång vandrade.

Plus, the water is so see-through-clear here that it's easy to spot fish in the waters of the Krka River. Simply strolling through the park's walkways gives you a whole new appreciate for the power and artistry of Mother Nature.

Boat ride through Croatia’s Neretva Delta with lunch

If you're craving a slice of nature and want a change from the throng of Croatia's historic cities, then the Neretva Delta is what you're after. Within an hour and a half of Split, it's a mosaic of waterways, marshes and lagoons that you can peacefully meander along as you switch your holiday to a slower pace for the day.You'll arrive in the morning at Villa Neretva, where you'll board a trupica – a traditional Croatian riverboat – and take to the waterways of the Neretva River. The river's wetlands sprawl across Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a relatively small stretch flowing through Croatia before it pours out into the Adriatic Sea. In this protected conservation area, you'll glide through the clear water, with a good chance of spotting herons, egrets and pygmy cormorants. There are over 300 species of birds here among the other wildlife, so keep an eye out for some more unusual finds, like colourful kingfishers, black and yellow fire salamanders and vibrant Balkan green lizards.Past Lake Kuti, you'll stop for lunch at Neretva House Tavern, which can only be reached by boat, for a feast of traditional Dalmatian dishes.
