Att göra – Nationalparken Plitvicesjöarna
Nationalparken Plitvicesjöarna är den största nationalparken i Kroatien när det gäller området och även den äldsta nationalparken i sydöstra Europa. Det grundades 1949 och ligger i det kuperade Karst området i centrala Kroatien inte långt från gränsen till Bosnien och Hercegovina, direkt på en viktig nord-sydlig väg som förbinder det inre av Kroatien med Medelhavskusten. Den skyddade nationalparksområdet omfattar 296,85 kvadratkilometer. Lika-Senj län inrymmer cirka 90 procent och Karlovac län cirka 10 procent av området. Nationalparken Plitvicesjöarna var 1979 en av de första naturliga monument i världen som ingick i Unescos världsarvslista. Nationalparken Plitvicesjöarna har ca 1 000 000 besökare varje år.
