Beskrivning

Det finns en anledning till att La Palma kallas "det gröna paradiset", och du kommer att se varför på denna utflykt till den nordöstra delen. Och med våra kunniga lokalguider får du en inblick från passionerade lokalbor. Rudi, en av våra lokalguider, säger: "Innan jag blev guide arbetade jag på en bananplantage på Kanarieöarna i 5 år. Det var ett bra sätt att fördjupa mig i ölivet. På den här heldagsturen får du upptäcka doftande skogar, vulkaniska klippbassänger och koloniala byar. Och för att avrunda upplevelsen får du smaka på lokal rom som är söt som honung.

Vi börjar denna fullspäckade utflykt vid San Bartolos utsiktsplats - med en fantastisk utsikt över branta kustkullar och bortom Atlanten. Härifrån fortsätter vi till de naturliga havsvattenpoolerna Charco Azul - de ”blå poolerna” där vi, om vädret tillåter, kan ta ett snabbt dopp. Sedan bär det av till byn San Andres med havsutsikt, ett blomsterrikt kluster av färgglada byggnader som framhävs av all grönska.

Härnäst kommer en av Rudis favoritdelar av utflykten. ”Du går bredvid tropiska bananplantager och får veta varför de är så viktiga för livet på ön”, säger han. Efter en promenad längs Charco Azuls vulkaniska strandlinje stannar vi till för att smaka på rom på ett av de sista traditionella destillerierna på Kanarieöarna.

    There was too much hanging around for instance the lunch break was an hour and a half in a village with nothing to offer except a very good restaurant. We were fully inclusive at our hotel and did not require a full meal at lunchtime.

    Guide was great, good knowledge and made it interesting. Instead of cruising through Santa Cruz it’d be nice to make one or two stops there Personally would change hike to before lunch or later, not right after it (5minutes), as it was unpleasant experience

    Unfortunately we had to swap coaches 3 times due to breakdowns and then broken sound system. The staff performed a miracle keeping the trip roughly to plan despite the issues they faced. It was impressive that the company could provide alternative coaches at a moments notice! The swim stop required more time than 1 hour. Otherwise the tour guide was very informative and again impressive how he managed both German and English.

    Provide fuller information and advice. In particular, we were not told that, to reach Charco Azul pool, we had to go up and down c.60 steps; or that the rain forest walk was all uphill. Rum isn’t a popular drink, so it wasn’t a great part of the tour.

Nestled between two ravines, rows of pine and almond trees flank cobbled streets that enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you'll have some time to have a poke around the weekly farmer's market, with stalls dedicated to local produce and handicrafts. At El Time viewpoint, there are heart-pounding views over the Angustias gorge. We'll also make our way to Tajuya viewpoint, from where you can observe the scarred, inferno-like slopes of the Tajogaite volcanic cone, formed from an eruption in autumn 2021.
