Om det inte vore för att himlen är blå skulle du kunna tro att du befann dig på månen eller Mars. Men Lanzarote ligger bara en halvtimmes båtresa från Fuerteventura, vilket är en kort tur för en utomjordisk upplevelse. På en och samma dag besöker du nationalparken Timanfaya, El Golfo och en vinodling.

Du åker färja till Playa Blanca på Lanzarote och åker till nationalparken Timanfaya där en tredjedel av öns hundra vulkaner finns. Beundra kusliga landskap av fantastiska formationer i nyanser av rödbrunt, rött, grått och svart. Du kommer också att kunna beundra ett par partytick från den geotermiska jorden under dig.

Sedan åker vi längs parkens kuststräcka, till El Golfo och tittar på den gröna lagunen vid en svart lavastrand nära Hervideros klippor. De bildades av smält lava som rann ner i havet. Vi gör ett stopp för att lära oss allt om fördelarna med aloe vera. Vi avrundar dagen med en vinprovning i La Geria.

Fuerteventura Villages Tour

Fuerteventura is that rare gem – there's plenty to do and see but in laid-back and uncrowded surrounds. This daytrip to the centre of the island will explore the historic town of Betancuria and the fishing village of Ajuy and take in attractions such as an aloe vera plantation and a farm.Setting off in a comfortable minibus, your first stop is the aloe vera plantation. Next up is the polka-dotted Moorish-influenced lighthouse overlooking Las Playitas beach. Then, in Ajuy, you can check out the view from the chalk cliffs overlooking the black beach and the fishing boats.Later, a scenic drive through the mountains will take you to the whitewashed colonial town of Betancuria. See St Mary's church, whose simple exterior belies its richly decorated interior. There'll be a cheese-tasting session at a nearby goat farm, before you round off the day with a visit to the cheese museum in Antigua.

Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura Ticket

Oasis Wildlife is home to a huge variety of birds, reptiles and African animals, living as close to their natural habitat as possible. There's a successful breeding programme here and recent arrivals include giraffes, sea lions and hippos. Get up close to many of them at the sea lion, reptile and birds of prey shows. In between shows, you can come eye-to-eye with the giraffes on the viewing platform, laugh at the antics of the cheeky chimps, admire the elephants and take pictures of the meerkats, otters, zebras and hippos – the list is endless. There is also an optional 25-minute camel ride available, adding adventure and laughs along the way, aswell as a 20-minute educational lemur experience, learning all about these beautiful, endangered primates.
