Montserrat är ett berg, en unik naturpark och en massiv klippa, över 4000 meter hög, synlig från långt håll, med underliga former och rundade toppar som skjuter ut i himlen; här finns stigar, trappor, grottor, kapell och eremitage utspridda över berget, extraordinära landskap och underbar utsikt.
Montserrat är ett benediktinerklostret som är nästan 1000 år gammalt, ligger uppe halvvägs uppför berget och skyddad av dess toppar. Det finns en basilika med kapellet Vår Fru av Montserrat är känd som La Moreneta, skyddshelgon i Katalonien, och har en stark närvaro som är känd och vördad. Gemenskapen av munkar driver också en pojkskola som ägnas åt musikstudier.
Montserrat är också kultur: ett bibliotek med nästan 300 000 volymer; Europas äldsta pojkkör; en basilika full av målningar, guldlampor och dekorerade kapell, ett museum med målningar av El Greco, Picasso och Dalí bland många andra och skatter från forntida Egypten.
