Beskrivning

Gör dig redo för en dag med kultur och äventyr på denna heldags guidade tur längs Salak Agro Jeep Village Trail. Du börjar med ett varmt välkomnande och ett glas färskpressad salakjuice - en söt, syrlig frukt som kommer från Indonesien. Sedan får du en snabb genomgång av säkerheten och resan innan du ger dig iväg. Som Wayan, en av våra lokalguider, uttrycker det ”du har inte riktigt sett byn förrän du har varit i byns tempel och tittat bakom kulisserna i arak-huset”.

Det är alltså dit du åker först. En kort vandring tar dig till byns tempel, en plats som är central i byns liv, där ceremonier och festivaler äger rum. Du kan titta på dess traditionella arkitektur, som de intrikat snidade stenportarna, och lära dig mer om balinesisk hinduism. Därefter är det dags för arak-huset, där du välkomnas av doften av jäsande frukt och värmen från de elduppvärmda destillationsapparaterna. Här får du se hur den traditionella balinesiska spriten tillverkas av jäst spa eller ris, destillerat med urgamla tekniker som gått i arv i generationer.

Sedan hoppar du in i en vintage terrängbil och beger dig till salakplantagen. Kavla upp ärmarna och dyk in i salakodling och hjälp till att samla ingredienser till din matlagningskurs. Under ledning av det lokala teamet får du lära dig att laga rätter som timbungan, kryddat kött som tillagas i bamburör, grillad satay och tum, som är ångad kyckling eller tofu inlindad i bananblad. När allt är förberett äter du lunch på dina rätter. På eftermiddagen åker du till en naturskön kulle med utsikt över Mount Agung och stannar till för en kopp lokalt kaffe innan du påbörjar återresan.

Sat on a small viewpoint overlooking the lake, the temple is home to the Goddess of Waters named Danu, who's believed to control the island's irrigation system. Finally, you'll visit Leke-Leke Waterfall, a peaceful cascade that's tucked away in northen Bali's jungle. After a stop for pictures and some time to unwind, you'll start the journey back to your accommodation.
