Ting å gjøre i Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvicesjøene nasjonalpark er den største nasjonalparken i Kroatia, men også den eldste i sørøstlige Europa. Den ble grunnlagt i 1949 og ligger i Karst-området midt i landet, ikke langt fra grensen til Bosnia-Herzegovina ved den kystlige middelhavsregionen.
Den beskyttede nasjonalparken dekker over 296 kvadratkilometer. Kommunen Lika-Senj står for mer enn 90 % mens Karlovac-kommunen har ca. 10 %. Plitvicesjøene var i 1979 en av de største naturlige monumentet i verden og ble skrevet inn på UNESCOs verdensarvliste. Parken har over 1 million besøkende hvert år.
