Lissabonin kuvatuin nähtävyys on epäilemättä majesteettinen Torre de Belém. Santa Maria de Belémin kaupunginosassa sijaitseva linnoitustorni on UNESCOn perintökohde ja Portugalin suurten löytöretkien symboli. Kuningas João II tilasi Tajojoen varrella sijaitsevan tornin osaksi kaupungin puolustusjärjestelmää sekä juhlalliseksi portiksi Lissabonille. Kaunis 1500-luvulla valmistunut torni on rakennettu lioz-kalkkikivestä. Vaikka tornissa näkyy useita arkkitehtonisia tyylejä, edustaa se pääosin portugalilaista emanueelista tyylisuuntausta. Alun perin pienellä saarella sijaitseva torni siirtyi nykyiselle paikalleen Lissabonin suuressa maanjäristyksessä vuonna 1755, joen virtausten muuttuessa suuntaa. Belémin torni lisättiin Portugalin seitsemän ihmeen luetteloon 7. heinäkuuta 2007.
