Retken kuvaus

Konavlen laakson omaleimainen kulttuuri ja keittiö paljastuvat kaikessa komeudessaan tällä puolen päivän retkellä. Maistelet paikallisia viinejä perheomisteisilla viinitarhoilla, matkustat junalla kylästä kylään ja nautit perinneruokaa Konavlen laakson luonnonkauniissa ympäristössä. Antun, yksi paikallisoppaistamme, kertoo: "Dubrovačka Malvasija on tunnettu rypälelajike, joka on ominainen tällä alueella. Paikalliset viininviljelijät onnistuivat pelastamaan lajin, vaikka sodan jälkeen jäljelle jäi vain kolme tervettä viiniköynnöstä."

Laakso sijaitsee maaseudulla lähellä Montenegron rajaa, vuorten ja Adrianmeren välissä, ja se on auringon hellimä pakopaikka Dubrovnikista. Vierailet Zastoljen kylän historiallisella Brajkovićin viinitilalla, minkä jälkeen matkustat junalla Ljutaan. Täällä näet 500 vuotta vanhan Đivanovićin vesimyllyn, jolla on ollut kaksi tarkoitusta: keskiajalta lähtien sitä on käytetty jauhojen valmistukseen ja villan jalostamiseen kankaaksi.

Pandišpanjia valmistetaan perinteisesti erityistilaisuuksiin, kuten tässä tapauksessa meille vierailijoille. Se on tapamme toivottaa vieraamme tervetulleiksi kauniiseen Konavlen laaksoon."

Overall the trip was interesting. Happy that there wasn't too much time taken with touring lots of Hotels picking up other passengers (like the Montenegro tour). It would be more honest to make it clear that 'the train' is actually a 'Road Train' and not a real train. It didn't bother us but it surprised several of the other passengers. All the places we visited were interesting, and the people were very friendly, but the selection of wines for tasting was small.

Advertised as a train wine tour, very misleading. The land train was a disappointment. Very small wine samples given and very few . Very long bus journey to get to the “train”. Have done similar tours in the past and this trip was very poor in comparison

Not good value. Too long from hotel pick up to first stop (1hr 20 when tui rep had said 30 mins when specifically asked). Also told that we'd walk in vines....we didn't.

Got told it was €80 each so I paid with cash and then got told by paying with cash it would be €4 more but then got told by the TUI rep he didn’t have change so for me and my wife I paid €165 euros and the rep said your be tasting at all the vineyards and at least 10 glasses we only had a drink at 4 vineyard and a tiny amount in a glass definitely not worth the money and the tour guide favoured the French

The only fault with this trip is calling it a wine tasting as it was so much more. It’s a half day that introduced us to local producers of wine, flour and olive oil. We had 5 stops and each provided history, something to try and was introduced by part of the family. The “train” is actually a land train like you find at Disney but was good for the job. We tasted about 6 wines, 6 wine liqueurs and had food 4 times. The whole thing was around 6 hours Highly recommended

Konavle Valley Wine-tasting Tour with Scenic Train

Konavle valley's distinctive culture and cuisine are revealed in all their glory during this half-day tour. You'll sample locally grown wines at family-run vineyards, ride a train from village to village and tuck into some traditional food, all in the scenic surroundings of the Konavle valley. Antun, one of our local guides, says, ‘Dubrovačka Malvasija is the renowned grape variety unique to this region. Local winemakers managed to save the species, even though there were only three healthy vines remaining in the post-war period.'Located near the border with Montenegro, between mountains and the Adriatic Sea, the valley is a sun-drenched countryside escape from Dubrovnik. You'll arrive in the village of Zastolje to visit the historic Brajković winery, then it's all aboard to ride to Ljuta by train. Here, you'll see how the 500-year-old Đivanović water mill had dual purposes – since medieval times it was used to produce flour and process wool into fabric.After this visit, we'll continue to a different vineyard and wine cellar for more tasting. You'll sample some local culture when you try a typical ploughman's lunch, just as the farmers would eat during a hard day in the fields. The final stop is a third winery. Antun says, ‘You'll relish a cold glass of Konavle rosé alongside a slice of typical pandišpanj sponge cake at this vineyard. Pandišpanj is traditionally made for special occasions, like this tour, when we welcome our guests to our beautiful Konavle valley.'

Båttur i Kotorbukten med ön Gospa od Škrpjela

Montenegros Kotorbukt är legendarisk. Dramatiska bergslandskap, skimrande blått vatten och den muromgärdade staden Kotor gör detta fjordliknande landskap till en höjdpunkt. Du kommer att besöka den berömda ön Gospa od Škrpjela under en båttur i bukten innan du åker vidare till Kotor stad. Det finns en stark hantverkstradition i området och städerna är kända för sin fina arkitektur.Efter en bilfärd längs den dalmatiska kusten går du ombord på din båt och sätter segel mot det smala sundet Verige, där hela bukten öppnar sig, och du kommer att se varför Kotorbukten är Montenegros mest berömda resmål. Efter att ha passerat Perast, Stoliv och Prčanj är det första stoppet den sagolika ön Gospa od Škrpjela, en plats som Ivana älskar. ”Av alla museer i regionen är det på holmen det jag helst guidar”, säger hon. ”Kyrkan är som ett konstgalleri och museet innehåller pärlor som Jacinta Kunić-broderiet.Tillbaka ombord äter vi en god lunch ombord på väg till Kotor stad. Här har du ledig tid att utforska denna befästa medeltida pärla full av venetianska palats. Besök katedralen St Tryphon och dess skattkammare, gå uppför stadsmuren eller titta på den lokala marknaden, där du kan prova och köpa lokala specialiteter som rökt skinka, fårost och konjak.

Blue Cave by night

As you cruise around the wild green island of Kolocep in the Adriatic Sea, you'll catch a glimpse of traditional Croatian life, with its peaceful fishing villages, sprawling Mediterranean landscapes and mesmerising caves. You'll gather at the dock for a quick safety briefing before setting sail on an evening adventure that takes you to the island's famous caves that have been carefully carved by the sea over thousands of years. Local guide, Mia, says "I love asking guests which cave is their favourite because they're so different. The Green Caves feel rejuvenating and full of life, while the Blue Cave has a more mysterious feel."After a cruise across the calm waters of the Adriatic, you'll approach the lesser-known but utterly magical Three Green Caves, affectionately known as the ‘Three Sisters'. The captain will drop anchor, giving you around half an hour to swim around and explore. To see the emerald-green reflections that give them their name, head to the largest green cave. And, if you're feeling adventurous, swim through the narrow passage of the Canyon Cave to see the light and shadows dance on the cliff walls. Hop back onboard, where there's plenty of soft drinks, beer and wine, and head to the south of the island and the famous Blue Cave. Mia adds “in the evening light, the tunnels and caverns take on a whole new level of beauty.” You'll have time to take in the peaceful atmosphere and vivid blues for yourself as you moor up for around 30 minutes here. Then, it's back on the boat for a few drinks and some music as you return to the dock with a new appreciation for nature's masterpieces.

On this kayaking trip, you'll spend the day navigating the maze of canals and lagoons that peel off from the Neretva River.Your guide will set a leisurely pace along the protected waterways, allowing you to fully embrace this quiet slice of Croatia's great outdoors, with stops for swimming, too. There's plenty of wildlife to look out for, with herons, kingfishers and eagles making the waterways their home and hunting ground. Floden Neretva – båttur med lunch

Det är en grön oas mitt i regionens karstlandskap.Floden Neretva flyter genom bara 20 km av Kroatien och är hem för en rad olika vilda djur och växter. Men det finns inte så många bra saker här, och när du kastar loss längs flodens bakvatten och kanaler kommer du att förstå exakt varför. Ombord på en typisk flodbåt i trä kommer du nära din naturliga omgivning, med massor av fotomöjligheter längs vägen. Håll utkik efter sköldpaddor, sjöfåglar och andra fåglar som lever på flodstranden, liksom efter många fiskarter.Och när du har fått upp aptiten lägger vi till vid tavernan Neretva House, som endast är tillgänglig med båt, för lunch. Du bjuds på en festmåltid med traditionella dalmatiska rätter, som sköljs ner med lokalt vin och färskt vatten. Mätta och belåtna ger vi oss sedan ut på återfärden längs floden. När vi är tillbaka på torra land avrundar vi utflykten med ett stopp på en hemlig plats - det kommer garanterat att bli ett perfekt fototillfälle.
