Poseidonin temppeli, joka sijaitsee Sunionin niemellä Attikassa, on kauneuden, salaperäisyyden ja ihmeiden täyttämä paikka. Sitä pidetään yhtenä koko Kreikan parhaiten säilyneistä antiikin temppeleistä ja yhtenä Ateenan kultakauden tärkeimmistä muistomerkeistä.
Arkkitehtoninen mestariteos, joka rakennettiin vuonna 444 eaa. käyttäen läheisestä Agrilesan laaksosta peräisin olevaa marmoria, on omistettu kreikkalaiselle Poseidon-jumalalle ja se muistuttaa hyvin säilynyttä Hefaistoksen temppeliä. Alun perin se koostui 34:stä doorilaisesta pylväästä, joita koristivat taidokkaat kaiverrukset, mutta niistä on jäljellä tänä päivänä vain 16. “The ladies that were the guides in the morning and afternoon were excellent”
“Not long enough at the site. Long journey to make for such a short visit. Information from guide was not engaging enough. Lacking passion about the subject. This is how it came across to our party.”
“This was broken up into 2 separate tours am and pm. The guide for the morning dropped us off at the restaurant for lunch and left us. We were informed that we had to make our own way back to the tour office for the pm trip pick up. The tour guide for the afternoon was awful and lacked any communication skills and it was an 90minute trip for a 10 minute tour by ourselves, guide didn't come with us. Very disappointed”
“Excellent value and great way to get to know Athens. Good to get to the Acropolis early before the crowds. Our guide really brought it all alive. Museum also ver interesting with our guide's help. Lunch was very good, 3 courses and we just paid for drinks. Trip to Cape Sounion also well worthwhile.”
